FAQ’s
What is the French Bulldog temperament?
Despite their glum expression, the French Bulldog is comical, entertaining, and dependably amiable. As comfortable in an apartment as they are on a farm, Frenchies are more lively than you might suspect from their chunky appearance. French Bulldog puppies are especially frisky, and ball chasing is one of their passions.
Do you vaccinate your puppies?
Yes. Puppies are expected to get their first vaccination when they are 50-60 days old. They should also get the vaccination for flea and worming treatment when they are 6 to 8 weeks old. We can confirm this by providing you with the necessary paperwork.
What about health concerns with Frechies?
Genetic conditions in brachycephalic dogs typically do not present until they are 2-3 years old. This is why it is important to ensure the parents are in that age range. If the parents of the puppy are below this age range, you might not have a way to determine the diseases the puppy might have.
IVVD Prevention:
- Keep your dog’s weight down to reduce neck and back stress, especially for breeds predisposed to the disease.
- Use a harness when going on walks to reduce neck stress that can occur if using a neck leash.
- Minimize jumping on/off furniture.
How do I provide my Frenchie a safe home?
Swimming pool owners must exercise caution: Because of their squat build and heavy head, most Frenchies cannot swim and will drown if they fall into a pool.
Frenchies love to clown around and go for walks. Be sure to limit their playfullness and walks when they are visually tired/panting. You do not want to over exert and they have a hard time finding their OFF switch, so find it for them. Short bursts are better than prolonged workouts.
